I bought an e-reader because I travelled a lot for work and couldn't carry as many physical books as I wanted while I was away. I have a huge e- and audiobook collection, but also own a great many print books, many bought secondhand - and in many cases, out of print.

I would read much more from a library if it were easier to get to one, though when I could, I still found that they didn't have all the books I wanted to read. And now, and most importantly, I find it hard to hold physical books, so I mostly read on my phone or my ancient kindle.

I bought a Kindle when they first came out because I didn’t have room for anymore bookshelves!

I haven't owned an e-reader since my last one died several years ago. I usually read on my phone (I have apps for Kindle, Kobo, and Book Funnel), or occasionally on my tablet.

I switched to ebooks when the iPad came out (literally on the day it was first released in 2010). I haven’t read a page on paper since that day and don’t miss it one bit. And I was the guy who loved to hang out in bookstores and leaf through books for hours.

A switch was flipped and I never looked back. Shocked me, but reading electronically is so vastly more enjoyable I hope never to read on paper the rest of my life.

Oddly enough, I get what you mean! I read on my iPad as well and it is pretty enjoyable and sufficient. Thanks for reading 💫

Thanks. I am also struggling with this internal debate. Lately, I have been transitioning from digital to physical. I have a massive ebook collection, which I find useful for research due to the ability to highlight and synchronize notes. However, I don't have the space for a large physical library. Pleasure reading, on the other hand, is definitely better with physical books.

I usually only get physical copies of the books I’ve really loved and know i will come to again and again if that makes sense. Even then though, this is super rare, and usually comes in the form of a gift.
